Buffalo, Rochester Make Forbes List of "Most Affordable Cities"

Forbes.com recently published a list of “America’s Most Affordable Cities,” identified as “cities that had a balance of cheap living and economic prosperity–places with solid job markets, but where costs aren’t prohibitive.”

Buffalo came in 3rd on the list and Rochester ranked 4th. The article went on to explain, “These Northeastern cities have a lot in common, emerging from long slumps after being deserted by their manufacturing economies……….the combination of a newly diversified economy and a history of sustained low costs makes them affordable.”

As we’ve been saying all along, the article also talks about the housing market which in Upstate New York while we didn’t experience the “boom” of other areas, we didn’t experience the “bust” either.

All of the cities have several factors in common – cost of goods remains low, housing market is stable and residents are maintaining steady incomes and decent jobs.
