According to the Democrat and Chronicle on November 18, Rochester is on their way to economic recovery. State officials announced on November 18 that the region added 1,500 private sector jobs within the last 12 months.
This has resulted in the first increase in total payrolls for the five-county statistical area since October 2008.
The unemployment rate for the area is now down to 7.3 percent from 7.4 percent in September, which was previously 7.7 percent in October of 2009.
The state of New York as a whole has a better unemployment rate at 8.3 percent compared to the rest of the nation which is at 9.6 percent.
