Highlighting Hilton, New York

Hilton 1If you are looking to settle in a more rural setting in Monroe County that is still near the city, consider the village of Hilton.  Located 23 minutes west of downtown Rochester, it is situated within the town of Parma in with a population of approximately 6,000 people.  Two Olympians even hail from this village!  Both Speed Skater Cathy Turner and New York Rangers’ Captain Ryan Callahan once called Hilton home.

Hilton’s motto is “The Little Village with the Big Heart”.  They stay true to that motto by hosting an annual Make-A-Difference Day on the fourth Saturday of every October.  The Hilton community, businesses, and associations—such as the Hilton-Parma Chamber of Commerce and Hilton Rotary—participate.

Each year the village hosts their annual Hilton Apple Festival on the weekend preceding Columbus Day weekend.  Founded in 1981, the Festival was intended to celebrate the apple harvest season and offers free family entertainment in addition to numerous craft booths and food vendors.  Additionally in the fall, Zarpentine Farms boasts one of the country’s largest cornfield mazes, measuring 20 acres.  Hilton 17Another significant attraction is the annual the Hilton Fire Department Carnival held in July, which includes rides, food vendors, and a parade.  Both these highly anticipated events attract attendees from all over the area.

Looking for great places to eat?  Hilton has you covered.  The Hilton Family Restaurant has been around for at least 25 years and with the same owners; The Sub Hub is known for delicious wraps; Carbone’s has great lunch specials.  Carmestro’s Restaurant is a village staple; additionally, they provide catering services.
